I'm thinking about putting up a fence in my backyard and I'm curious if I can manage this project myself. I consider myself handy, but I've never tackled anything like a fence before. Plus, I've got a sprinkler system to think about, and I really dislike digging. Any tips or thoughts on this?

If digging isn't your favorite thing, keep in mind where your posts will go. Digging holes is crucial, but renting an auger can make it way easier and much faster! I helped friends build fences before, and it wasn't challenging at all if you’re reasonably skilled. Just make sure you're aware of your sprinkler system and know where your property lines are, so you don’t accidentally hit any lines.
My neighbor and I put up a 6-foot wooden fence together and it was definitely doable! I think it really depends on how much fencing you need to install. Are you just looking for a few panels or a whole lot more? That'll make a big difference in your approach.

Exactly! I built a 100-foot fence by myself and used an auger—it definitely saved me a ton of time! Just go for it. You’ve got this!
