I'm curious about doing my own spray foam insulation. Is there a DIY option that works well or any kits you would recommend?

Yes! There are DIY spray foam kits available, like Tigerfoam. Just keep in mind that unless it's a tiny job, such as sealing rim joints, it might end up being more cost-effective to hire a pro for larger areas.

You can definitely DIY it, but be warned that buying a full spray foam rig can be pricier than hiring a contractor. Also, it's a good idea to get an energy audit before starting any foam work.

What's the purpose of the energy audit?

I used a Froth Pak spray foam kit that's about the size of a small propane canister. It ran me around $400 and could cover about 150 linear feet of 2x10 rim joist. The kit comes with everything you need to start spraying!
