Hey folks,
I'm working on installing supports for a false ceiling in my living room, but I've hit a bit of a snag. It seems a lot tougher to drill into this load-bearing wall compared to just regular brick. I'm pretty sure there are no hidden pipes or wires, but I'm wondering if it's okay to drill into this wall at all. I'm planning to drill 8mm holes every 40cm. Is that a good approach, or should I explore other options to attach the ceiling supports? Thanks in advance!

Yes, you can drill into a load-bearing wall, but be careful with how you do it. Drilling at 40cm apart might be overkill! Instead, think about running a support parallel to the wall and anchoring that every meter or so. Then, you can attach your ceiling supports to that. Alternatively, you could hang the entire setup from the ceiling if that works better for you. Good luck!
Is your ceiling load-bearing too?
Are you using an SDS drill or just a standard handheld hammer drill? A handheld drill can be a bit limiting, especially with tougher walls. Think about using the right tools for the job—it can make a huge difference!
I'm just using a handheld drill.

Thank you for the advice!
