Can I Fix This Roof Issue Myself?

About a year ago, I bought my house, and while replacing a gutter recently, I found a pretty bad roof situation. Besides needing some wood repair, I'm wondering what the best fix is for this. Is it something I can tackle myself, or is this better left to the professionals?

Honestly, that work looks pretty shoddy. You might want to just get a pro involved to avoid any potential headaches later on.

It looks like you might need to create and install a metal diverter to keep water from running down onto that wood trim wall. The diverter should be flashed up under the siding and moisture barriers, plus it needs to run properly under the existing shingles. Sure, if you're feeling adventurous, you could probably handle it, but just keep in mind how water flows with gravity. If you're not confident, I’d suggest getting a professional to take a look. Messing this up could lead to bigger water damage issues, and you might already have some problems under the surface.

That's exactly what I was thinking, especially since the seller replaced the roof just months before we bought the place.
