Hey everyone! I have a quick question about woodworking. If I take a plank of wood and resaw it into two pieces using a bandsaw, can I glue those two pieces back together without running them through a jointer first, provided that the surfaces of the planks haven't been altered at all? Or is using a jointer still necessary for the best results? I'd appreciate any advice you can share!

If the surfaces of the planks haven't been touched, they should fit together pretty well. It's not going to be a perfect join because there’s a bit of kerf to account for, but it should work fine in most cases. Just keep in mind that jointing would remove more material, which can change how they align.

But could that joint fail down the line?
