I'm looking to grow ajices dulces/cachucha peppers here in Savannah, GA, but I'm a bit concerned about local wildlife. In Latin cooking, we use these peppers for making sofrito, which is a key ingredient in many dishes. Unfortunately, I can't find them locally, and while I can order them online, I'd love to try growing my own. My main worry is that we have tons of squirrels and other small animals around. Is there a way to build a small greenhouse to protect my pepper plants from getting eaten? Thanks for any advice!

I’m in Charlotte, NC, and I grow ajà dulces and other peppers without any issues from squirrels. They mostly ignore peppers and tend to focus on things like peas and corn. Just be cautious when hardening off your seedlings, as the squirrels might knock them over. Other animals can be a problem, but peppers seem to be pretty safe. Go for it!
I had a similar issue with my garden! Just keep an eye on them when they're little, especially at first.
