Hey everyone! I'm curious about getting seeds from a store-bought carrot, specifically the Nantes variety. I can't find seeds locally, so I'm wondering if I can just plant a whole carrot in my garden. Will it reestablish itself and grow greens and seeds, or will it just rot away? Has anyone tried this before?

If your carrot has some leaves, you can try cutting the top off and planting that part. There's a chance it might grow and eventually produce seeds. However, I'd say there's about a 90% likelihood it won't work since most commercial carrots are hybrids, which might not reproduce properly.
You can definitely find Nantes carrot seeds on Amazon! But if you can't get them shipped where you live, I totally get that. Local nurseries can be tricky sometimes—I’ve had bad experiences too.
