Can I Grow Watermelons in Pots?

Hey everyone! I'm curious if anyone here has experience growing watermelons in pots. I live in Northern Europe (around zone 4 or 5), and I don't have access to a greenhouse. I'm considering building a small greenhouse on a raised bed or even just using pots. Can watermelons thrive in such a small area? How much space do they typically need?

Absolutely, you can grow smaller watermelon varieties in pots! I tried it out with my plants, which were about 1-2 kg each. The pot setup I used was roughly 0.5m x 1.5m x 1.5m in volume. My plants ended up growing really flat, almost like a 2D shape, since they’re vines that can be trained. You can guide their growth instead of just letting them spread out all over the place!

Thanks for the insight! I have a small variety myself, so I think I'll be good with that pot size. What type of pot did you use, and did you find any support necessary for the fruits?
