I'm dealing with a frustrating kitchen setup. Above my stove, I've got a microwave that's supposed to help with ventilation, but it just circulates cooking smells and smoke back into the room. To the left of the microwave, there's this narrow chase, about 3 inches wide, that goes up into the attic. I noticed there's a hole in the attic floor that's about 10"x3" and peeks directly down onto my kitchen counter. Is there a feasible way to install a fan in the attic that could pull air from this chase and vent it out through the roof or maybe a gable vent? I'd love to set it up with a remote switch or something similar!

You might want to check if your microwave has a switch to convert it from recirculation to external exhaust. If it does, you could end up connecting the blower to that chase, directing the air outside. Don’t forget to dig out the manual for any configuration details!
