Can I Install a Screen Door Inside My House for My Cat?

I've recently had my family move in with me, and I have a beloved indoor cat who loves to munch on grass when he gets outside. Unfortunately, the grass makes him sick, and I end up dealing with messes from his vomiting and pooping. My house has a side door leading to the basement that gets a lot of traffic from my nephews and their friends running in and out, which tempts my cat to escape and eat grass whenever he hears the door. To solve this, I'm thinking of installing a screen door inside the house, behind the regular door, so I can see if my cat is waiting before opening the door. Is this a feasible solution? Is there anything about door hinges that might cause this to be impractical?

Yeah, you can definitely put in a screen door inside! It would mount so it swings inward, not outward like usual ones. It’s a decent plan if it helps keep your cat from escaping, and honestly, it could work out just fine. Setting it up might take a bit more effort, but if it keeps your furry friend safe, I say go for it!

Thanks for the reassurance! I just want to do what's best for my cat, and if it means a bit of extra work, I'm all in. He comes first!
