Can I Install My Own Propane Hookup for a Generac Generator?

I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to hook up a propane tank to my Generac generator all by myself. I live in an area where I can't find anyone willing to connect the propane line, and my gas supplier isn't responding to any of my requests. My goal is to connect a 24 kW Generac generator to a 120-gallon propane tank. Any tips or advice would be appreciated!

If you’re serious about the hookup, go bigger with your tank! A 120-gallon tank only gives you about 96 gallons of usable propane. When I got mine installed, the minimum recommended tank was 500 gallons. My generator ran for over a week without an issue, so it's clear you want to plan for more than you think you'll need!

Keep in mind, whether you decide to do the installation yourself or hire someone, it’s crucial to follow safety practices. Always check for leaks and ensure everything's up to standard with proper installations.
