I'm working on a fun project to create a unique alarm clock that features a simple animatronic figure powered by a motor. My question is whether I can wire the motor into the same circuit as the speaker, or do I need to consider additional voltage or amperage? I'm planning to repurpose parts from an old plug-in alarm clock, change the alarming sound to a song, and have the motor animate some figures. Since I'm mainly a carpenter trying to grasp basic electronics, any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Yeah, it really depends on the type of motor you’re planning to use and how you wire it in. The simplest approach would be to use a 120V AC motor and connect it directly to the main input of the clock. Just make sure the motor can handle the power from the clock's circuit!

That's helpful! But how would I make the motor turn on when the alarm goes off? Is there an easy way to wire a switch to the speaker circuit so it activates only then?
