Can I Just Add More Mortar When Swapping Out My Shower Pan?

Hey there! We had a Delta shower pan installed yesterday, but it feels too narrow for our space. We're thinking about swapping it for the same model but in a curved style to gain a few extra inches. We want to know if we can just add a layer of mortar on top of the existing bed to set the new pan, or do we need to remove the old mortar entirely?

Nope, you can't just add to it. Everything has to come out, sorry!

Ok thanks. Is this fairly easy to do?

Lmao, really? The time to think about that was before you set the mortar!

Honestly, it's probably best to remove the old mortar bed completely. It shouldn't be too hard to break it up into manageable pieces, and new mortar is pretty cheap – around $5-$7 a bag.
