Can I Leave My Power Tools in a Hot Garage?

Hey everyone! I have a garage that faces west and it gets scorching hot here in Nevada, often exceeding 100°F. I know that leaving batteries in a hot environment is a no-go, but I'm wondering if it's okay to leave my bare power tools in there too. Will the heat damage them?

Honestly, I wouldn’t worry too much about leaving your tools in the garage. As long as they aren't wet or directly exposed to extreme temperatures for long periods, they should be fine. Just make sure to check on them every now and then!

Right on, thanks for the reassurance!

I've kept my tools in the garage for years, even through brutal summers in Arkansas, and they've held up pretty well. Just like you said, I keep my good batteries and any XR tools inside to play it safe, but the standard tools seem okay in the heat.

I keep my tools inside to avoid humidity damage. I've had rubber grips get gross from the heat. I’m more of a DIY hobbyist, so it's not like I’m using them daily, but it’s worked for me!

If you're in a place that gets super hot like California, I get the concern. I keep my batteries in big plastic toolboxes and take them inside when I'm not using them. It's a bit of a hassle, but worth it if you're worried!

That sounds like a solid plan!

Same here! I have a small insulated room in my house for mine.
