I'm planning to create my own wainscot paneling and I'm wondering if using finished plywood and molding will work well. Any tips or examples would be appreciated!

I've been working on my own wainscoting project in the basement. After a flood, I replaced the bottom portion of my drywall and decided to cover it with wainscoting since I'm not the best at finishing drywall. I used 2"x4" 1/8" plywood panels and 1"x4" select pine. I’m attaching the panels 3" above the ground with a nail gun, then putting the 1x4s on top and bottom for support. I even added vertical boards to hide the seams and a small cap molding on top. It's an excellent way to cover up the drywall repairs and it looks fantastic!
Could you share a link to what you’re envisioning? Just a heads up, plywood can be pricier than MDF. For simpler wainscoting panels, you might want to consider framing it out and painting the wall the same color as the paneling to create a cohesive look. I noticed Home Depot has these panels. Do you think I could paint them dark brown and it would look alright? [Check it out here](https://www.homedepot.com/p/1-4-in-x-48-in-x-32-in-Shaker-Style-Primed-MDF-Wainscot-Paneling-8203490/321926552).
Thanks for the example! Here’s a link to what I’m thinking: https://imgur.com/a/m3SSqWo
