Hey everyone! I'm considering buying a small wood chipper from Home Depot or Lowe's, but I'm curious if it's actually possible to turn wood chips into sawdust by running them through the chipper multiple times. I've heard people mention getting sawdust for free from mills or cabinet shops, but unfortunately, I live quite far from those places, about two hours away. It seems more practical for me to make my own sawdust instead. If you have any budget-friendly ideas, especially since I'm eyeing chippers that are under $200, I'd love to hear them!

I’ve got a small electric woodchipper and even tried bigger ones that are tractor-powered, but I really don't think you’d get the fine sawdust you're aiming for, even if you went through it multiple times. It could turn messy too. On the bright side, the smaller chipper produces really nice wood chips, so it’s not a total loss. But honestly, the best sawdust I got was from a local mill instead.
What do you actually need the sawdust for? I end up tossing out loads of it myself! Maybe I could help you find a use for it?
