Can I Mix Furniture Paint to Create a Darker Navy Blue?

Hey everyone! I have a quick question about indoor furniture paints. I bought a blue furniture paint that turned out to be a bit too light and bright for what I need. I'm thinking about mixing it with some black paint to darken it and achieve a navy blue shade. Is this a good idea, or will it mess things up? Thanks a lot for your help!

Hey! Mixing paint can definitely be tricky. Usually, it's better to blend your lighter blue with a darker blue instead of black. Adding black might actually make the color look more gray than navy, which might not be what you're after. If you can, see if a paint store can mix a darker blue for you instead!

Thanks for the insight! So you're saying that black can really shift things towards gray? I didn’t think about that! I appreciate you clarifying this.
