I have an old Kobalt 40v mower that's still functioning, but the batteries are toast. I'm wondering how practical it would be to rewire the mower to run on two Milwaukee M18 batteries. Is it as straightforward as just splicing into the battery packs in series?

Instead of modifying your Kobalt mower, have you considered selling it for around $100? You could then put that towards a Milwaukee mower, which would cost between $280-$350. It might save you a lot of hassle and give you a more reliable mower. Just a thought!
You might want to check for Milwaukee to Kobalt battery adapters; I've heard there are some available that can be 3D printed on Etsy, but I haven't seen them personally. It could be a simpler solution!
