I'm moving to a new house in two weeks that has a cat, and I'm worried about keeping my plants safe from it indoors. I was thinking about putting them on my south-facing balcony, but I'm concerned about the sudden shift to the intense Texas sun. Would it be alright if I used a 30% shade cloth to help them adjust? I could block them off completely with cardboard for the first few days and then introduce them to a few hours of sun each day leading up to my move. This way, I wouldn't have to bring them in and out every day. What do you think?

Yeah, that sounds like a solid plan! Start giving them just a couple of hours of sunlight each day while you’re still at home. The shade cloth will help a lot. Just take it slow and they should adapt fine. Plus, if you give them a few days to gradually get used to it, they should be okay when you fully move them out there.

Yeah, I feel you! I would be nervous too with people around. Maybe just keep an eye on them for the first few days until you're sure they’re safe.
