I'm selling my house that has 37 Tesla solar panels and a PowerWall+ that I own outright. I'm thinking about removing them to use for an off-grid home I'm planning to build next year. How feasible is this? Will I face difficulties integrating them into my new house, or get the builder to set them up? I'm relatively handy and am considering either having them mounted on the roof or building a freestanding platform. What worries me is the cost involved—$3,600 for removal, $2,000 for moving them, and then who knows how much for the installation. What should I expect?

I took on a similar project with a 39-panel Enphase system that had been previously installed. I handled the DIY installation myself, and it’s been working great since August! If you're able to plan it out and just hire the labor, it can be pretty affordable. I even documented the whole process if you want some insights on costs and strategies.
Considering that you have about 15kW worth of panels, the retail value isn't great—around $4,000 for the whole set based on a quick search. Plus, labor costs might outstrip that value, making removal and reinstallation a tight fit on your budget.
I'd recommend considering leaving the entire system with the house since you own it outright. It might actually enhance your home's value. Removing and reinstalling the solar system can get costly—think about all the expense of taking it down, patching the roof, and reconnecting everything at the new place. You might only want to take the PowerWall and leave the solar panels; potential buyers could be skeptical if they see panels without the necessary equipment to run them.

True, it’s actually a 15.25kW system along with the battery. I guess I might be better off finding new panels at my new location.
