So, we're in the process of building a new house, and I picked out navy cabinets with gold hardware and white quartz countertops a couple of months ago—definitely not my finest hour as I was a bit overwhelmed at the time. Now, I've decided on a new color scheme—sage green, brown, white, and gold—and I'm really excited about it! However, I'm having a hard time accepting the navy cabinets I initially chose. I'm considering repainting them once our house is finished, but I'm kinda worried that I might ruin the cabinets in the process. What do you think? Have you already ordered the cabinets? If they haven’t been installed yet, maybe talk to your builder about swapping them out. Sure, there might be a restocking fee, but it could be worth it to get the color you truly want! Otherwise, you could also consider just changing the hardware to see if that makes the navy feel better with your new scheme.
I'm actually a firm believer in the transformative power of paint! But I have to say, navy is pretty versatile and goes with lots of styles. I'd suggest finishing up your decor first and reassessing how you feel about the navy later on. Changing the hardware could also refresh the look without diving straight into repainting!
Honestly, I'm a big fan of the idea of painting! Just keep in mind that any painting done outside of the factory tends to chip more easily. If you go for it, make sure to use high-quality paint and prep the cabinets well to minimize issues later on.
