I'm looking to change some trims on my windows to PVC, but I'm a bit concerned. I noticed these highlighted parts in the image linked (which I've attached). I've already managed to take the front trims off, but I've been warned that the deeper trims might destabilize the window if I try to remove them. They seem like just trims to me, so I'm wondering if anyone has experience with this. Are they just cosmetic, or do they actually serve a purpose? Can I remove them one at a time to avoid any potential window problems?

Those trims aren't just for looks—they're important for keeping the window secure. If they're attached to the window installation fin, you'd need to remove the entire window to change them out. It might sound tedious, but piecemeal removal could lead to bigger issues. You really should consider consulting a pro for this.
From what I see, those trims might look simple, but they’re probably attached to the window frame. Removing them could risk compromising the window's stability, so I’d be cautious. If you’re set on replacing them, you might need to take the window out altogether to do it right. Better safe than sorry!
I think you can definitely go for it. If you're careful, you might be able to cut them and use PVC trim without too much trouble. Just take your time and see how each piece comes off. It's worth a shot!
