I'm looking to improve the soundproofing in my home office by swapping out my hollow core door for a solid core one. Is it feasible to just take my current door and have a solid door cut to match its dimensions? Or is there more to it than that?

Swapping to a solid door is definitely a thing people do! Just keep in mind that solid doors are usually heavier, so you’ll need to add a third hinge to support it properly. You’ll also want to make sure that the latch is in the same spot as the old door or you might have to rework the jamb a bit.
You can totally get a solid door prepped to your specs. When I worked at a hardware store, we asked customers to provide measurements for the height and hinge placements, as well as details on the latch. It's common for millwork shops to handle this kind of work, so find one that does!
Just a heads up, solid doors are pretty heavy, so it’s definitely a two-person job to install one! It could save you some hassle if you enlist a friend to help out.

Thanks for the tip! I’ll make sure to have someone around to help.
