Can I Replace My LED Can Light with an LED Pendant?

I'm looking to swap out one of the four LED can lights in my kitchen for an LED pendant light. One of my can lights is directly above the kitchen table, and I've found some conversion kits online. However, they mention that they won't work with the LED can lights I have. Is there a different way to make this swap work?

The issue probably lies in whether the can light is mounted to a stud or has an existing electrical box. Those lightweight LED 'can-less' lights often don't require any additional support beyond the drywall. If you've got an electrical box, you're on the right track!

That's reassuring to know, thanks for the info!

Before you make any changes, check if the LED puck in your can light has a socket that fits a regular bulb. If it does, you’re likely good to go. But if it’s just wires with no socket, you'll need to install an electrical box to support the pendant light.
