Can I Return a Free Battery from Home Depot After Buying a Tool?

Hey folks, I saw that Home Depot has a promotion where if you buy a standalone tool, you get a free 6Ah battery. My question is, if I don't need the battery since I already have enough, can I just return it afterward and treat it like I've received a discount on the tool I purchased?

Yeah, I've looked into this. The deal is kind of a mix; nothing is really free. If you return one of the items, they just prorate the discount between the tool and the battery. So you can return the battery and keep the tool, but just know you won’t get the full price back. The amounts should show up once you add everything to your cart online. Just a heads up, be prepared to see how much of a refund you’ll actually get!

So if I buy both for around $150 and return the battery, I’d just be paying about $67 for the tool? That’s awesome!

I get caught in the same trap! I think I'll return the one I don’t want, but then I see that good return value and end up keeping it. It turns into an addiction, for real!

I just pulled this off a couple of days ago. They didn’t even ask questions when I returned the battery right after my purchase. Super easy!

Did you return it right away at the store? How did that go down?

Honestly, since you haven’t bought the battery alone and don’t have a separate receipt for it, returning it might be tricky. They’ll want some sort of proof of purchase. Just something to consider before you go for it!

I'd be careful with these deals. Home Depot often jacks up the prices on tools a bit before promotions. Just stay informed on prices, 'cause sometimes it might be a better bet to buy from Amazon instead, especially if you’re looking for serious savings!

That’s true! Sometimes they do raise the price for these promotions, but often they just stick to standard MSRP which is higher than what you might find on Amazon.
