Hey everyone! I need some advice on my lupin, which has been a standout in my garden this spring. Unfortunately, it's now swarming with a ton of white aphids, and they seem bigger than the ladybirds I've spotted. I'm wondering if it's a good idea to cut it back to just a few inches to hopefully save it for next year. What do you think? Thanks a bunch!

Ugh, I feel you! My lupins are in rough shape too. Those aphids are the worst! They really can ruin a beautiful plant overnight. Hang in there!
Lupins often face aphid infestations. If you can't get rid of them, consider trying a mix of neem oil and horticultural soap. I’ve used it successfully for thrips on my houseplants, and it worked wonders on aphids too, especially after I spotted ladybird larvae in my garden, which love to munch on them. Just be careful about applying it too much—you don’t want to harm the beneficial insects!
Absolutely, pruning your lupin can help! I've done that in the past for the same problem. It allows the plant to focus on new growth and can give it a chance to bounce back for the next season.
Perfect! Thank you. Case closed, boys, lock it down.

I couldn't believe it either! I went out one morning and the whole plant looked like a giant white cloud!
