I've got a wall in my basement that separates a pantry from the main area, and I'm thinking about taking out the upper half to turn it into a bar. The wall seems to just be made of 2x4 framing and some paneling, running against the roof line, while the other walls are block. I believe the wall isn't structural, but I'd love a second opinion since this is my first project like this. Here's a photo of the part I want to remove. Sorry for the mess; we're in the process of moving furniture around! [pantry wall](https://imgur.com/a/FGGGiU0)

Honestly, you might want to have a professional check it out just to be safe. I’m not an engineer either, but it looks like a simple 2x4 wall that shouldn’t be carrying much weight. If the joist above isn’t holding up anything heavy, you’re likely fine to remove it.
From what I can see, that wall just seems to run along a single joist. As long as nothing heavy is hanging off of it, you should be good to go! Just take down the 2x4s and paneling and you should be set.
Typically, in standard constructions, basement walls built with 2x4s aren't structural. If the wall is just a separator, you should be able to remove it without too much hassle. It’s often easier to just take it all down and rebuild a half wall if needed, rather than trying to cut the existing wall to a certain height.
It’s hard to say definitively without seeing the structure in person, but from what you’ve shown, it looks like that wall isn’t load-bearing. There don’t seem to be any supporting studs above the window, and it may just be attached to the joist above it. However, consulting a professional would give you the safest answer.

Thanks for your input! I appreciate the advice and think rebuilding might actually be the way to go.
