Can I Safely Use a 25mm Masonry Bit with My 16mm SDS Drill?

I'm wondering if it's okay to use a 25mm masonry bit on my SDS drill that's rated for a max of 16mm. I know it's probably best to check with work since they got this M18 BH-0 drill for me, which works with my existing batteries. I've been drilling into bricks and engineering bricks (not concrete yet) with bits sized 20mm and 25mm, going about 250mm to 300mm deep. Should I bring this up with them or just wait to see how it goes? They provided both the drill and the masonry bits.

Honestly, using a bigger bit can work out just fine! Just remember, if it feels off or your drill struggles, it might be a sign to dial it back. But a 25mm bit should give you a better experience than, say, a pointed stick!

Totally! Sometimes going bigger can make things easier, just be patient and listen to how the drill handles it.

I would definitely check in about that! The materials you're working with, like bricks and blocks, tend to be much softer than old concrete. It sounds like you might encounter some tougher stuff later on, especially if you hit solid grouted block. Better safe than sorry!

I had to drill through some really old engineering bricks once, really dense stuff, and it was a workout! But with a 25mm bit that was long enough, I made it through eventually.

Hey, if the bit fits the chuck, you're good to go! Just be mindful of how hard the material is you're drilling into, but in general, you should be fine.
