Hey everyone! I recently got my hands on four unfinished Oak Veneer doors from Wickes, and I'm keen to stain them using some Osmo Oil (Raw Transparent). I've seen people on TikTok using microfiber cloths for this, but I've also come across some advice suggesting the need for a specific brush and certain techniques. What's your take? Should I try doing it myself with a microfiber cloth, or would it be better to hire a pro at about £60 per door (totaling around £240)? I'm a bit unsure since I've never done this before.

Honestly, I wouldn’t go for a microfiber cloth. From my experience, old cotton t-shirts are the best for applying stains—they work like a charm! I've used them on furniture and they leave a really nice finish without any pesky lines from brushes. Plus, you can usually find t-shirts for cheap at thrift stores, so it's a win-win.
I've had good luck using microfiber for similar projects. I once applied polyurethane over stain using a cloth to avoid brush marks, and it turned out well! Just remember to test a small spot first and check if you like the results before going all in.
Since you're using a colorless oil, I think you could definitely tackle this yourself! Just make sure to do a test patch first so the cloth doesn't leave behind any fibers on the door. Following the instructions from the can is key!
