So, I had a bit of a gardening disaster: my mother-in-law sawed down four blueberry bushes I planted back in March, claiming she was helping (she's not familiar with gardening, being from Europe). Plus, she removed some hydrangeas that were established in my garden despite my clear instructions to leave them alone. I'm really upset about it. If I can find some blueberry bushes for sale at my local nursery, is it too late to plant them now, or do I have to wait until next year?

It's definitely not too late to plant blueberry bushes! You've got plenty of time—I'd say mid-August is about the cutoff for planting. So, if you find some at your nursery, go for it! And as for your mother-in-law, maybe just encourage her to stick to flowers?
If you do manage to plant the blueberries, try to give them some shade with an umbrella or shade cloth for the first few weeks. It can really help them adjust, especially if you're in a hot or dry area!

Thanks for the encouragement! I really appreciate it. I can't get to the nursery until later today, but I'm feeling a lot more hopeful about finding some blueberries now. I just moved last summer, and I was excited about getting a modest blueberry harvest this year since our last place had an amazing blueberry bush.
