Hey everyone! I'm moving into a new place, and there's a 4-prong outlet in the garage. I'm not sure if it's set up for electric vehicle (EV) charging or for something like a stove. If I buy an EV-rated 4-prong socket, can I easily replace the existing one? Also, I noticed that the ground prong is facing downwards, so I'll need to rotate it 180 degrees to connect my NEMA 14-50 adapter. Is it straightforward to do that as long as I cut the power? Thanks for any tips!

Swapping the outlet itself is the easy part, but be sure to double-check that the wiring and circuit breaker are rated for the load of an EV. If they aren’t, you could run into issues down the line. Safety first!
Before you start changing the outlet, it might help to post pictures of the sockets and plugs—you could get better guidance that way. Plus, don't forget to check the amperage of that outlet at the circuit panel to make sure it's suitable for EV charging!

Thanks for the advice! I'll try to get a photo of it soon. Right now, I just have a link to the socket I found: https://imgur.com/a/s0i2ni1. I hope it's helpful!
