I have a 1/2-inch stubby impact wrench with pin detent, and I'm trying to loosen a stubborn 36mm axle nut. I've been holding the trigger down with a 2.5 HO battery, but it just won't budge. I'm concerned about whether doing this too often could damage the anvil. Any advice or tips would be appreciated!

I’ve used my 3/8 stubby with a 1/2 adapter for a 35mm axle nut and it handled it just fine! But keep in mind I was using a 5.0 HO battery. Your 2.5 HO might struggle a bit more, so upgrading your battery could help.
You shouldn't break the anvil with that method, but a 36mm axle nut might be pushing it a bit for the power of your tool. Consider using a breaker bar to start or look into the high torque version if you do this often.
It probably won’t harm the anvil, but I'd say the 1/2 stubby isn’t the strongest option out there. If you need more power for heavy tasks regularly, it might not be the best fit.
