Can I Turn a Foam Mattress into a Couch?

I've recently upgraded my bed and now I have this awesome Leesa foam mattress that I'd love to repurpose for a cozy kids nook in the basement. I'm considering cutting the mattress into halves or thirds to make it easier to fold into a couch-like shape. My ideal would be something similar to a comfy Pottery Barn nugget that can also serve as a bed for guests. From what I've read, if the foam is about 8 inches thick, I could slice it 6 inches deep to allow it to fold up at an angle, leaving the last 2 inches intact to maintain its structure for sleeping when needed. Has anyone tried this? What do you think?

I thought about doing this too! I wanted a more comfortable futon setup, so I'm really interested to see how it goes for you. Good luck!
