Can I Turn My Circular Saw Into a Table Saw?

Hey everyone! I've got a 7.25-inch circular saw from Craftsman, and my workspace is pretty tight, so I'm considering how to adapt it into a table saw for better use when needed. I've seen some DIY hacks online where people do this. Has anyone here tried converting their circular saw into a table saw? Did you follow specific plans, or just wing it? I'd love to hear your experiences and any tips on how I might tackle this myself. Thanks!

I’ve seen folks do this, but most agree it’s not the safest route. By the time you set up a proper table for your saw, you could grab a portable table saw instead. They’re easy to store when not in use and much safer in the long run! Check out options like the one from Craftsman that can sit on sawhorses.

Honestly, I’m a lifelong woodworker, and I really think you should rethink this. The risks involved could be pretty high—just one accident could end up costing you more than a decent table saw.

One big issue is that a circular saw doesn’t have a riving knife, which can make it more dangerous to use as a table saw. I’d recommend just using your circular saw with a guide and treating it like a track saw instead. Way safer!
