I recently got a new truck that's too tall to fit in my garage, so I'm left with half a garage that's just storing stuff. We're thinking of transforming that space into a cool hangout area. We're planning to add a small couch or a futon, a TV, and maybe a fridge and some tables. However, since I live in Indiana, I'm worried about how the cold might affect my electronics—specifically the TV and possibly other devices like an Xbox. If I don't insulate the garage, will the cold ruin them?

It seems like heat and humidity are more of a threat to electronics than cold weather. Most devices are built to handle colder temperatures without issues, so as long as you keep everything dry, you should be safe. Also, a lot of electronics are rated for really low temperatures, around -40 degrees Fahrenheit! Just be mindful of moisture though.
Definitely check the operating temperatures for any fridge you plan to use out there; they can have more issues in the cold than your TV will. Also, I’ve had two TVs stored in plastic tubs outside, and they’re holding up just fine, so it might work for you as well!
Good tip! It’s all about keeping things dry and protected. Might even consider a few insulation tricks!
I recommend getting a split AC unit for your garage if you can. I installed one a couple of years ago, and it’s been a game changer! In summer, it used to get super hot, and now I just keep it at about 85 degrees. It really helps manage the temperature extremes in winter too, which is perfect for keeping everything safe.

Yeah, that's a good point! Keeping temperatures stable is key. I would just advise against any major dampness in the garage.
