Can I Turn My Portable Speaker into a Permanent Sound Bar for My TV?

Hey everyone! I recently got myself a Juice Boom Bar Bluetooth speaker that I want to use as an affordable sound bar for my TV. I want it to stay plugged into the mains all the time, but I'm concerned about the rechargeable battery bulging over time. I was thinking about removing the BL-5C battery since it turns on and shows a charging light even without it, but the speaker isn't outputting any sound. Can I connect something directly to the battery terminals to keep it powered? I'm not super savvy with electronics, so any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

If you're looking for an easier fix, you might be able to splice in a 3.7V DC power supply where the battery would normally go. I've done something like this before, and it usually works out fine. Plus, batteries are pretty cheap to replace if things go sideways, so it might not be a big deal in the long run!

To make your speaker work without the battery, you could try adding a resistor to bridge the battery contacts. The value generally needed is between 10kΩ to 100kΩ, depending on the voltage from your charger and how much current the speaker needs. This will create a signal for the speaker to think a battery is connected while it draws power directly from the charger. Just be careful with the voltage and ensure the resistor can handle it to avoid overheating!

It's cool that you're experimenting with your speaker! Just a heads up, though—this might be a rebranded speaker that could struggle with good audio sync when connected via Bluetooth. Make sure your TV has a 3.5mm audio out for a reliable connection. If you really want to pursue this project, you might want to consider getting a used soundbar instead since the cost and efforts might not be worth it for this speaker.
