I'm thinking about switching from a gas mower to electric and I'm all about DeWalt products. However, while their mowers are decent, they tend to be quite pricey compared to other brands. I've noticed that Ryobi 40V mowers are frequently available secondhand, and I'm curious if there's any kind of adapter that would allow me to use my 60V Flexvolt batteries in one of those mowers. I know they make 20V to 18V adapters, but I haven't come across anything for 40V. Has anyone seen one?

Unfortunately, there's no adapter for using Flexvolt batteries in a Ryobi 40V mower. The Flexvolt batteries switch between 20V and 60V depending on the application. If the adapter doesn't handle that properly, it may only deliver 20V, which won't work with a 40V mower. You'd either need a resistor (which isn't efficient) or a specialized buck converter, but those can be quite expensive and bulky. If you're set on using DeWalt batteries, it might be wiser to invest in a DeWalt mower instead; I've had great luck with mine!

Thanks for clearing that up! Yeah, I understand that the DeWalt mowers aren't bad, but around here, they are priced pretty high compared to other options. Just exploring if there's a way to get a cheaper mower that fits my battery situation. I have spotted some lightly-used Greenworks 60V mowers too.
