Hey folks! I'm an AV tech, and I sometimes need to keep cables organized behind a TV. I've noticed that some techs use cable staples as anchor points on wooden surfaces since they leave a small gap, making it easier to fit in a cable tie or Velcro. But I'm curious—if I try using a cable stapler on drywall, will it still leave that gap, or will it just punch straight through and not hold anything?

Honestly, that staple is likely to just go right through the drywall and won’t stay put. I usually use drywall anchors and then screw in cable clips, which works a lot better for holding stuff in place.

Have you actually tried that method before?
