Can I Use a DCB210 Battery with My DCST922 String Trimmer or Is It Too Much?

I'm trying to figure out if the DCB210 battery is too powerful for my DCST922 string trimmer. They both share the same 20V Max specs, but I've noticed my trimmer cuts out intermittently and seems to be overheating. While the motor case gets warm, it's not excessively hot, and the battery feels warm too, but not nearly as hot as it does when I use it with my mower. I'm wondering if this overheating is due to the battery drawing too much power, or if it's simply time for a new trimmer since mine is about four years old now.

I had the same issue with mine over the summer! Thankfully, mine was still under warranty and DeWalt sent me a new one. It could be a heating issue, or maybe the motor just gets clogged over time from all the debris it picks up since the motor is at the bottom. Definitely worth checking out!

That sounds frustrating! I’m glad DeWalt had your back. I just cleaned out the motor housing on mine because I noticed it was clogged at the upper intakes. The bottom was clear, but I couldn’t see the upper ones. I’ll test it out later to see if that solves the issue.
