I'm curious if the M12 3.0 battery can effectively power the 1/2 stubby impact wrench for automotive tasks like brake jobs and suspension work. Is it up to the task?

For sure, you'll be okay! If your budget only allows for the 3.0 over the 5.0, you’ll still be able to tackle most jobs with the 1/2 inch drive. Just remember, they have the same power specs—it's more about the size that fits your needs.

Absolutely! Even older models of the stubby impact wrench have done a great job handling brakes and suspension work, especially if you're not dealing with a ton of rust. You'll be just fine with the 3.0 battery.

Yep, the 3.0 battery works perfectly fine for a DIY weekend warrior using the 1/2 stubby. I used mine for brakes without any issues, but I can't comment on suspension since I grabbed my stubby after I made the switch. You'll be good to go!
