Can I Use a Peppermint Gel to Keep Spiders Away from My High Ceiling?

I'm dealing with a terrible tiny spider problem in a room with a really high ceiling. I'm constantly getting swarmed by them, and since I'm not able to use foggers or hire exterminators, I need to find a long-lasting solution. I've already tried using Alpine and diatomaceous earth on the floor, but that hasn't made a dent in the spider population that seems to be coming from the attic. These tiny spiders weave webs everywhere, and they're constantly dropping down on me, even getting into my food and drinks. My plan is to create a 'barrier' using a paint roller to apply a glycerin or Vaseline-like peppermint solution on the ceiling and walls where I think they're coming from. I need something that will stay clear, won't dry out or flake, and can mix with essential oils. Is this a feasible approach, or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Do you have any pictures of the spiders? It helps to identify what you're dealing with. Many tiny spiders can be cellaring spiders or baby sac spiders, which are really small and fast—almost too fast to catch a good photo!

Using a fogger may seem like a good idea, but they might not reach the far corners of your room effectively. Instead, think about placing a fogger in spots like the crawl space and attic to help manage the spider situation from there.

Applying a gel-like substance on your ceiling could damage the paint over time, and it might not provide the long-term solution you're looking for. If you're unable to use chemicals or call in a pest control service, you might want to reconsider your living situation. If you can use chemicals, I'd recommend targeting the attic with something like Ortho Home Defense. Also, keep in mind that peppermint oil needs reapplication to remain effective.
