I'm looking for a solution for my small yard where I don't have much grass, and I don't want to invest in a full-sized lawn mower since storage is an issue. I have a M18 16" string trimmer and I'm wondering if it's crazy to use that for mowing my lawn rather than getting a mower? Has anyone tried this?

How much grass are we talking about? If it’s very minimal, like 20’x20’, then the trimmer can handle it, but it may not look super neat. Just be cautious of how it’s divided into patches, that can complicate things a bit.
If you have your heart set on a power tool, consider getting a hedge trimmer too. It's great for tidying up the edges and won't scatter clippings everywhere like the string trimmer might!
You can definitely use a string trimmer to tackle your lawn, but expect it to be a bit of a chore! It might give you uneven cuts since you can't easily control the height as you go. Just be prepared for the results to be a bit wild!

Exactly what I was worried about! I can just picture it looking uneven since I can't really manage the height.
