I'm looking to hang a hefty 6-foot mirror that weighs 49 pounds, but there's no stud where I want to place it on the wall. I've previously used monkey hooks for hanging art and shelves on drywall and noticed that gorilla hooks have a weight capacity of 50 pounds. I'm considering using two of them to hang the mirror, but I feel a bit uneasy about the weight distribution. Does anyone have experience with hanging something this heavy, or can you suggest other methods?

Just to clarify, gorilla hooks aren’t adhesive; they’re metal hooks that you puncture the drywall with and then twist in. I’ve started using Ookay brand hooks for heavier items and I use at least one size up from what's recommended for added safety. Make sure to attach to the D-rings rather than picture wire when possible!
I really wouldn't recommend using any kind of adhesive hook for something as heavy as your mirror. If it falls, you're going to have a mess to clean up and a broken mirror to deal with!
If your mirror has a frame, you might want to consider using a French cleat system. I once hung a 6-foot wide mirror with this method, and while mine hit two studs, I believe it could work with just drywall if you use good toggle bolts.

That sounds like a solid plan! Going up a size on the hooks definitely gives you a safety net. Good luck with the mirror!
