I have a minor slow leak in my bathtub drain, and I'm wondering if pouring liquid epoxy or something similar down the drain would be a viable way to seal it from the inside. Is this a bad idea?

Definitely not a good plan! If you don't see the exact spot of the leak, dumping epoxy into your drain might lead to it hardening in places like your P trap, which would require a full plumbing replacement later. If you can see the crack, then using something like JB Weld directly on that might work, but don't just pour epoxy in and hope for the best!
I wouldn't recommend doing that. If you don't know exactly where the leak is, using liquid epoxy could end up clogging your pipes instead of fixing the leak. The best way to handle it is to locate the source of the leak and repair it properly. Sometimes that might mean removing some drywall to access the plumbing.
Instead of liquid epoxy, you could try some epoxy putty specifically designed for plumbing. Just be cautious with any liquid epoxy as you don’t want it flowing everywhere – it could end up being a bigger mess than the leak!
