Can I Use Multiple TV Mounts for a Floating Canopy?

I'm trying to set up an 8ft floating canopy above my aquarium to hold the lighting. If I use three separate TV mounts, each rated for 100lbs, can they collectively support up to 300lbs, or is there a limit I should be aware of? I'm particularly curious if there's a difference between vertical and horizontal weight support. Thanks for any insights!

Using multiple mounts can help increase capacity, but remember each mount's weight rating assumes the load is straight down, close to the wall. If the canopy extends out far, it could put extra leverage on the mounts, which means you might want to lower the total weight you expect them to handle. Essentially, don’t count on the full 300lbs up there unless you're really sure about weight distribution!

Yeah, definitely make sure the weight is evenly distributed. And consider if there's any wind or sway since that could complicate things even further!
