Can I Use Mushroom Compost in My Raised Garden Beds?

Hey everyone! I'm a newbie gardener and my husband just surprised me with two new raised garden beds for this season. We picked up some compost, but it turns out it's mushroom compost, which looks quite different from what we used in our other beds. I did some quick research, but now I'm a bit anxious about whether it's suitable for transplanting. The beds are filled with wood logs and leaves at the bottom—should I worry? What should we do next?

It really depends on what kind of mushroom compost you have. There’s a lot of varieties out there. Some are just chunks with live mycelium, while others are more finely ground. If it’s chunky, you should definitely mix in some regular soil. A good idea is to add some quality chunky compost to help it blend better with the mushroom compost and keep things balanced in the bed.

Haha, it looks like mulch with big clumps in it! I think he got the pricier option—hope it was worth it!
