I'm looking into getting a 2kW solar inverter for my setup, and I'll be adding solar panels later on. My main question is about the inverter's capabilities. Can I use it to power my mains board while the mains supply is active? My mains has a capacity of just 4kW, and I plan to draw up to 4kW when the mains is available but only around 1.5kW when the mains is off. It really depends on the inverter's design and wiring. If it's a solar+mains inverter, it might work seamlessly, but make sure to check how it manages loads when mains is on. And honestly, why not think about getting a bigger inverter? It would handle more power.
Thanks for the quick reply! As for a bigger inverter, my issue is that larger ones are usually 48V, and I want to avoid setting up 4 lead-acid batteries. Most of my load is below 500W, with only about 10% being 1800W (like my induction cooktop which can wait for mains). I'm curious, with the mains on, shouldn’t the inverter just bypass everything?
