Can I Use My Garage Door Opener After Manually Closing the Door?

I had to disengage my garage door because the sun was hitting the sensor at certain times and wouldn't let it close. In a hurry, I pulled the red handle to manually close it so I wouldn't be late for an appointment. Before I left, I reengaged the handle to keep the door secure. Now that I'm home, am I good to just use the opener, or do I need to manually open it back to the position where I originally disengaged it?

You should be able to open it with the garage door opener without any issues. If it doesn’t respond, you may have to close it again manually, and it should click back into place.

Thanks! I was worried about breaking something by pushing it too far.

You can just use the opener as normal! The garage door doesn’t track its position based on the drive chain; it relies on switches that tell it if the door is up or down, so it won't know the difference. Just hit that opener button without any worries!
