Can I Use My Old Garbage Disposal with a New Sink?

I'm replacing my old dual bowl sink with a new Kohler single bowl sink and I want to know if I can just take out my existing Insinkerator garbage disposal from the old sink and use it with the new one. Do I need any special equipment or a new 'kit' to make it work? Thanks for the help!

Using your old disposal should be straightforward, just make sure the twist and lock mechanism is compatible. I had to pass on mine because my new sink was deeper and threw off the plumbing. But a new sink without a disposal is still an upgrade!

I agree, it's easy to reuse the disposal! Just be prepared to update the plumbing since you're switching from two drains to one. Also, keep an eye on the height — if your new sink's deeper, the disposal might sit lower than your drain, which can cause issues. Just a heads up!

Definitely reuse your garbage disposal, but I’d recommend getting a new sink flange since the old one is probably in rough shape. You want a good seal, after all! Check out universal options that fit Insinkerator models too.
