I'm in the process of building a covered porch in NW Florida, and I'm considering using resin as the deck coating. I want to avoid splinters and the hassle of redoing the deck every couple of years. Is resin a good choice for this, or do I need to look for something else? Thanks for any advice!

I wouldn't recommend using resin for your deck. Wood expands and contracts based on the weather, and resin doesn't do that as well. Over time, the resin may crack or peel, especially in outdoor conditions. It's just not a solid match for exterior wood surfaces.
Instead, you might want to go for a clear water seal or a translucent stain that's specifically formulated for decks. These options will help protect the wood while letting it breathe, making them more suitable for outdoor use.
